What worked vs what didn't
✓  What worked
Shuttle Eco live demo operated on a path and drew significant crowd attention — universally cited as the stand-out differentiator
Livestock automation touchscreen experience received strong engagement and prompted good inquiry
Quality digital assets — photos, video, written content — lifted the perceived value of the display
Marketing team collaborated well during bump in; effort and attitude were commended
Salespeople actively engaged the public, providing useful real-time feedback on the touchscreen app
Greenline brand focus was clear and deliberate across the site
✗  What didn't
Site render did not match final layout — sales team arrived without being informed of the change, creating confusion
Major setup tasks left to the day before; no scissor lift available for shed painting, requiring ladders
Large LED screen considered outdated — no longer does video content justice at field days
Borrowed Parts department speaker failed both connection methods during setup
Key decisions were delayed too long — too much discussion, too little early action
Long staff hours driven by last-minute scrambling; increased pressure on all departments
Product focus note
Feed mixers recommended as primary FarmFest product
Sales feedback (Ash Wenham) specifically recommends displaying feed mixers as the primary product at future Farmfest events, noting they are the most suitable product to display and sell at this event. The consensus across responses supports narrowing the product focus at each event — fewer products, clearer value propositions, better outcomes.
Recommendations for FarmFest 2027
01
Confirm attendance at the start of the year. Decide which field days the team will attend in January, not in the weeks prior. This gives every department the full lead time needed to plan, produce assets, and source equipment without scrambling.
02
Begin site planning and prep one month earlier. Secure equipment requirements (scissor lift, screens, audio), lock in vendors, and complete structural setup tasks well before the event window. Use the 362 days available.
03
Keep sales informed of every layout change. If the final site deviates from any render or plan that was shared, communicate the update to the sales team immediately. Arriving to a different site than expected creates unnecessary friction on the day.
04
Free marketing to focus on marketing tasks. Physical setup that requires tooling, painting, or workshop support should involve the relevant departments early. Marketing should be focused on pre-event advertising, signage design, print media, screen content, and digital assets — not ladders and paint rollers.
05
Replace the LED screen and source a permanent audio solution. The current large LED screen is no longer fit for purpose at field days. A dedicated speaker solution should be sourced and owned outright — not borrowed from Parts each event.
06
Narrow the product focus. Each event should showcase a small number of products with simple, clear value propositions. For Farmfest specifically, centre the display around feed mixers. Keep what we say about each product easy to understand for someone who has never heard of DOM or Greenline.
07
Prioritise post-event follow-up. The lowest-rated category at 2.8/5. A structured follow-up process — capturing leads on the day, triggering email sequences, and assigning sales callbacks — should be planned as part of the event, not an afterthought.
