K-Tec 1233: 25.5 m³ a pass behind one tractor
The K-Tec 1233 self-loads 25.5 m³ heaped in a single pass, with one operator and one 350 hp tractor doing all the work. It is the machine behind water storage builds, dam widenings, irrigation channels, paddock developments and feedlot pads across Australia, and the most popular scraper model in the DOM fleet.
What it does
A scraper earns its keep on cycle economics, and the 1233's start with the load. A 3.66 m cutting width fills the 25.5 m³ bowl in one pass with no push machine and no second operator. The same unit cuts, carries, and lays off on grade, so material moves from cut to fill in one machine movement instead of three. It holds its cut in sand, topsoil, clay, gypsum, rock and gravel.
Put that against a real job. A 40,000 m³ water storage is roughly 1,600 passes of the 1233. Every pass is one tractor, one operator, and no float between sites, because the scraper travels on its own 26.5R25 radials behind the tractor that pulls it. A 7.92 m turning radius keeps the cycle tight in the cut, and the flotation tyres keep it moving where a truck bogs.
Running costs stay low because there is not much to service. Six grease points cover the daily check. The bolt-together modular design keeps wear parts accessible and replacement straightforward.
When the job outgrows one bowl, the 1233 scales. Two 1233s configured as a scraper train move just over 50 m³ a cycle behind a single 450 hp unit, still with one operator. An ADT conversion kit hitches the same bowls behind an articulated dump truck for wet ground and longer hauls.
