You have got a loader running, a mixer turning, and a line of cattle already at the bunker waiting on you. By the time you have made the last pass, the first mob has been eating for twenty minutes.
Feed is roughly 65% of what it costs to run livestock. You cannot do much about that number, so the money is not in buying cheaper ingredients. It is in making sure every kilo you paid for reaches the animal in the proportion your nutritionist wrote down.
That is a mixing problem. It is the one the Patz 620 was built to solve.
What dead spots actually cost you
Watch a tired mixer empty out and you can see it happen. Grain and fines come off first. Long fibre hangs back and rides the tub. By the end of the run the ration coming out the chute is not the ration that went in.
The cattle work it out before you do. The ones at the gate get one mix, the ones down the far end get another. You pay for it in sorting waste, in uneven condition across the mob, and in a formulation you are no longer actually feeding. Every day, quietly, out of the same account that bought the feed.
Twin screws and a tub that keeps working
A single screw handles a standard dairy ration fine. Plenty of operations run one for years and never have a problem. Once you start combining silage, straw, hay and wet byproducts in a proper feedlot TMR, the picture changes.
Twin screws move more material through the tub at once and blend it harder. You get a faster mix, a cleaner discharge, and a tub that empties properly between loads instead of holding a wedge of yesterday's ration in the corner.
The screws work alongside the Balanced Flow™ tub. The walls are contoured to control how feed particles fall back into the mix, which takes away the spots where ingredients settle out and stop moving. The augers come pre-drilled for knives, so you can set the machine up for the forage you actually run. Round bales, square bales, baleage.

Every Patz that lands in Australia comes with Digi-Star scales fitted. Not an option, not a line item to argue about at quote stage. You load to your nutritionist's recipe, you watch the weight go on, and you know what left the tub.
Options run from basic read-up and read-down through to fully programmable batching with ration memory and a light or buzzer confirming each ingredient is loaded to weight.

If your layout mixes trough feeding and feeder bins, it is worth a conversation. It is not something you will find off the shelf, and the blokes who build it are the same ones who will service it.
The tractor in your shed will run it
Here is the part most operations do not expect. Stepping up a mixer class usually means stepping up your tractor at the same time, and that turns a mixer purchase into a much bigger conversation with the bank.
The 620 needs a minimum 120hp PTO. On most Australian feedlots and dairies that is the four-wheel-drive already doing paddock work. Operators running heavy mixed rations with silage and wet byproducts report that 160 to 240hp gives you a smoother job again, but you are not buying a new tractor to get started.

Who is already running one
The Rosenbergers were the first Australian farmers to put a Patz to work. More than a decade on they have bought a total of three Patz 620s for their operation, feeding an 850-strong milking herd.
Up at Maleny, the Hopper family run a 620 at Maleny Dairies, producing the TMR behind their milk. The Hoffman family made the same call for their herd.
None of that is a marketing line. Repeat purchases are the only equipment review that counts, and this is a small industry where people talk.
Where the 620 sits in the range
If your loads are lighter or the budget is tighter, the Patz 350 is the country's most popular single screw at 11.3m³ off 65hp. If you are heading the other way, the Patz 950 steps to 31.1m³ for larger dairies and corporate feedlots, and the Patz 3600 goes further again.
