DOM Sheet Metal (DSM) — part of the rapidly expanding DOM Group (DOM Distribution, DOM Parts, Greenline, BJ Hydraulics, Scraper Hire Australia) — is seeking a Brake Press Operator to join our high‑performing team in Dalby.
We’re known for producing premium heavy‑duty tool boxes, lockable fridge boxes, and high‑quality custom manufacturing work trusted across multiple industries.
About the Role
We are looking for someone who can operate our brake press and assist across other areas of the workshop when required, including:
Performing manual material handling operations
Set up, calibrate and operate manual brake press
Review and follow technical drawings and specifications as required
Accurately measure, align, and inspect materials to ensure high-quality production standards
Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues on brake press machinery as needed
Work with the production teams to achieve targets and deadlines
Adhere and comply with WH&S regulations while keeping a clean work environment
Make sure that all finalised products meet the required quality standards prior to being dispatched.
Assisting in Laser cutting, Fabrication, Blasting, Powder coating, Assembly and general workshop duties

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have experience as a brake press operator and ability to control and set the machines. Current Drivers licence & forklift licence preferred.

OPPORTUNITY
DOM Distribution is seeking a highly motivated and high performing electrical or control systems graduate engineer, or soon to be graduate, to assist in the design, development, improvement and support of the electrical, automation and software systems that power DOM's next generation agricultural and earthmoving equipment. This role helps transform innovative ideas into reliable products by integrating electrical engineering, PLC control systems, autonomous vehicle technologies and fleet management software that create value for our customers. As a high ownership role, this position offers a unique opportunity for broad scope of work and hands-on delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Graduate Electrical & Automation Engineer will support the design, development, testing and improvement of DOM's electrical, automation and autonomous machinery systems. Responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with electrical control system design, including schematics, wiring diagrams, component selection and documentation.
• Supporting PLC, HMI and automation system development for batching systems, agricultural equipment and industrial machinery.
• Helping with testing, commissioning, fault finding and reliability improvements across electrical, automation and control systems.
• Supporting integration of sensors, GPS, telemetry, machine communications, industrial networks and safety systems.
• Assisting with autonomous machinery and fleet management systems, including machine diagnostics, data collection, software testing and remote support.
• Working with manufacturing, field service, software developers and senior technical staff to support product development and customer deployment.
• Preparing and maintaining clear engineering documentation, test records and project information.
• Contributing practical ideas that improve safety, reliability, usability and customer value.
This is a graduate role, so the successful applicant is not expected to be experienced across all areas from day one. The role is designed to provide broad exposure while building capability over time.
SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Essential
• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control systems or similar, or graduating soon.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Interest in automation, machinery, robotics or product development.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, control systems and PLCs.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to learn.
• Ability to travel occasionally.
Desirable
Experience with any of the following is advantageous:
