“The first Patz we brought was in 2010. I actually saw it when I was driving to Toowoomba one day and I thought, ‘that’s a big blue thing’. Turned around, went and kicked a few tires, had a look at it, and spoke to the dealership. They organised the demonstration machine to come out to the farm. We had it for a week and that machine never left the farm. It did everything we wanted it to do. We were the first farm in Australia to run Patz equipment and now we’re currently on our third Patz mixer. If this one wears out, we’ll probably buy another one. As soon as we started with Patz, back in 2010, there was just a noticeable difference in the quality of the ration that we could produce with the machine. The dual wheels make this machine a lot more stable, it tows better, and the new ladder. It’s a lot easier to get up there to see what your mix is doing or put small additives in. We’ve always had a 620. It’s the size that suits our operation. Some mixers will fill it right up, some mixers are only part mixers. That size machine is not a big sort of outlay to get into a newer model and they hold their value well as a trade. So that’s basically why I can’t say anything bad at all about dealing with DOM. I can ring them up, give them the part numbers, do a leisurely drive to Dalby and get what I need all within one day. If I have a problem over a weekend, it’s just simply make a phone call, they get it done, they get it fixed. But I’ve never had to use that service. To this day, I would not recommend anything other than a Patz mixer to anybody that wants to feed cattle or feed livestock intensively because they are just such a simple economic machine.”
